What are the differences between the Summer Olympic and the Winter Olympic

For some of you, you might be wondering what are the differences between the Olympic Summer  Games and the Olympic Winter Games. Well, besides the period of time that was held, the  Olympic Winter Games feature sports practiced on snow and ice. These are sports that we will not have a chance to watch during the hot summer.

Hence, for  Olympic Summer  Games, it features summer sports such as volleyball, badminton, swimming, soccer and many more. Hence, as compared to Olympic Winter Games,  there are more sports events and had been receiving greater attention from around the world. But, this does not mean  Olympic Winter Games is not as exciting as  Olympic Summer  Games.Bobsled

As for Olympic Winter Games, it  first started out in 1924. Just like its name, it featured winter sports such as Ski Jumping, Snowboarding,Ice Skating, Ice Hockey and many more. It is definitely a very exciting games and something that I really look forward to. Especially when , people from a tropical country, like me do not have the privilege to try out this kind of sports in out country.

PyeongChang 2018

Due to Singapore’s tropical climate, with snow appearing only through media, Olympic Winter Games definitely something that many of us had not heard of and is something relatively new.

Hence, I am proud to the upcoming XXIII Olympic Winter Games to be held in PyeongChang, South Korea from February 9 to February 25, 2018. This game will be conducted for a span of 17 days  at 3 cities in South Korea, namely PyeongChang, Gangneung, Jeongseon. YAY! 810 days to go!

So, to give you a quick glimpse of PyeongChang 2018.

The Official Emblem
After reading the story behind the design of this official emblem, I was totally amazed.
In Korean, PyeongChang is written as 평창. If you were to look at it carefully, can you find some similarities?

If not, look at this.

Now, you should get it right?
Yes, it is the first consonants of each syllable of " PyeongChang", when written in Hangul(Korea alphabet)
This emblem symbolizes a grand gathering of people from all around the world celebrating  the Olympic winter event , which will held in the harmonious land of PyeongChang-"which is taking place in the harmonious land of PyeongChang – “A square where the earth meets the sky, and where athletes excel in snow or on ice - that’s where everyone will celebrate the world’s biggest winter festival in 2018."

Vision

The vision of PyeongChang 2018 offers the Olympic Movement and the world of winter sports New Horizons, making it a legacy of new growth and new potential that is never seen before.

Slogan

This slogan was launch at the 1000 days-to-go celebration and countdown to the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games.

Look Closely! Passion. Connected. & PyeongChang 2018.
You got it right? Both of them have the same initial. P&C. How creative is the creator of this slogan is.

So, coming to what Passion. Connected means.

Passion: Symbolizing PyeongChang 2018 launches a new era of festivity and hospitality
