Nami Island

I bet  most of you  had heard about Nami island right?  Famous for its beautiful scenery and also being a popular drama filming sites such as Winter Sonata, it is listed as one of the top tourist attraction in South Korea

This half- moon shaped island, which is named after the General Nami- who fought against the rebel, is located in Chuncheon Si, Gangwondo Province, it is  1.5 hour by public transportation from Seoul. Located in the province where the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Gamesill be held, it is a great place for visitors to visit after or before the games.
You must be wondering since it is an island, how can we get there! Don't worry, there are several tour companies or even public transportation you could take to reach name island! After which, you could simply take a boat to the island itself and guess what, the boat ride was amazing! Look how excited we are on the boat!
Before even reaching Nami Island, I could feel the hospitality of Nami Island through the boat decoration. As  numerous flag of the country from all around the world are positioned on the boat! Amazing! I had never seen anything like this before! This just makes me feels like Olympic, with athletics from the world holding their flag!

It is a great place to visit and one of the must visit when you are here in South Korea. You will be able to discover and experience the differences throughout the four season, which gives people a sense of serenity, romantic and a great way to get closer to nature. As this island have a great combination of humanity and nature, which is definitely a great place to escape from the stressful and fast pacing city life.

Was welcome by this nice calligraphy of the Korean Character of Nami Island

So while strolling around the Island, we found many banners of countries! The feeling was great as it makes Nami island a place that welcomes people from all around the world and  definitely makes me excited when I saw my flag!

Not only that, there are greeting such as "Welcome to Nami island" written in several language. Such as the one below stating "Selamat Dalang di pulau Nami", which means Welcome to Nami Island in Malay and Indonesian.
This really shocked me! Am I in Singapore or Nami Island?! For people who are not familiar with this lion head + mermaid tail creature, it is Singapore's Iconic Symbol called the Merlion! The reason behind the name is due to the fact that Singapore was a fishing village!

Just look how diverse Nami Island is! This is something I had not expected as I though it will be mainly about the nature beauty of the island itself, together with some filming sites! However, to my surprise, Nami island seems like a global village that perfectly blend into nature and it's local culture.

Moreover, there is a little farm here where you can get to see live animals such as Ostrich! Also, there also ducks roaming around! From this, you can gauge how fresh the air is and how rejuvenating it is to be here! A great place for healing!

Drama Lover! Does this look very familiar to all of you????

If you are thinking of Winter Sonata~! You are absolutely right!  The Metasequoia path is the most popular place in Nami Island, mainly thanks to the drama Winter Sonata where the two main actresses and actor had been here! For those who doesn't know what Winter Sonata is about, it is an extremely popular Korea drama in Asia! But, it doesn't really matter whether you are a fan of this drama or not, by simply looking at this Metasequoia path, isn't it just beautiful! Isn't it just a great place for you to feel the nature and to take some photo! So, don't miss out this path when you are here, if not, you will definitely regret!

Nami Island never feels to fascinate me with the several gallery and themes around the Island. Here are some of the many that I saw, and it will be great for you to come down and have a look personally! So as to experience and also leave behind some precious memories!

Traditional Korean Houses for visitors to experience the local culture, history and custom.

There are also live performances in the Island itself, bringing the atmosphere to a brand new height.

As I had mentioned, it is located in Chuncheon, Gangwondo Province! Do you know that one of the food you should definitely try out when you are here is Dak Galbi, which is a Korean marinated stir-fried chicken!!!!

One good new is that you are able to find it in Nami Island too! You can simply head to one of the restaurants and they serve really delicious Dak Galbi!!!!! Moreover, you can grill it yourself!!!

This cold noodle is a good combination to go with the delicious Dak Galbi

As for now, it is time to say goodbye to Nami Island! I will definitely be back again!
